Musee d'Orsay; A Lovely Museum!

This morning, looking out of the window across the street, we had a friend. A cat. He was just the cutest, sitting there in the sun. I can only imagine the cost of living in the apartments across the street, what a lucky cat!

After another slow start (I think I am getting really tired!), we headed to the Musee d'Orsay on the metro. It was pretty easy to get there, with only one transfer. The Musee d' Orsay is located on the Left Bank of the Seine, in the old Gare d'Orsay, a Beaux-Arts railway station that had received permission to be demolished.

I am so very glad that those plans changed, as it is a beautiful building, now housing the largest collection of Impressionist and post- Impressionist masterpieces, in the world, by painters including Berthe Morisot, Claude Monet, Eduard Manet, Degas, Renoir, Cezanne, Seurat, Sisley, Gaugin, and Van Gogh.

It is a large museum, but not nearly as large as the Louvre and since it houses my, as well as many others' favorites Monet, Renoir, Degas, Rodin, and Van Gogh, it was a pleasure to be able to view so many paintings, and sculptures without totally wiping myself out.

There was also a recreation of a hotel lobby in the museum, although I do not remember which one, but Joe and I actually did the waltz around the floor. Too bad there was no one to video! There was also a large clock, that we were actually behind, looking out at the views of Paris. I don't know what it is about large clocks, but I just love them!

There were so many other paintings and sculptures that were magnificent also, and I loved the Chat Noir.  I thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Coming out of the museum, I could scarcely think about the metro ride back to the hotel, so we went across the street and had a coffee (yay), a beer, and a profiterole; a cream puff-type pastry, filled with vanilla ice cream (the best ever), and chocolate syrup. It was all AMAZE-BALLS!

We enjoyed chatting with a couple from Canada on holiday and shared many travel stories. We met such amazing people on this trip, and everyone is so happy to be traveling again.

We literally sardined ourselves onto a metro and made it back to our hood to have dinner. When in France have Thai food, right? I guess we are on a kick and have yet to go wrong with that choice.
Dinner was delicious and I was happy to get back to the hotel to shower away the day, and get into my jammies!

Four more sleeps and we will be home!

Night y'all!
